Thinking About First Things First

I have five completely unrelated things to share this morning.

First things first, get this sound in your ears. At the weekend I re-watched The Minimalists’ documentary and have been subsequently listening to the soundtrack, by VVE, on repeat. It’s just glorious.

Re-watching the film has motivated me to take step two of my minimalism journey and this week I’ve donated a shit ton of DVDs and books that have quite literally been sitting untouched and gathering dust on my shelves for years. It’s great to feel a little bit lighter.

Second things second, yesterday I went to see Sheryl Crow in Birmingham (pictured) after wanting to experience her music live since I was about 12 years old. She has definitely shaped my personality and had so many great things to say to her audience last night that she deserves her own blog ASAP.

Third things third, tomorrow I’m off for my first volunteering session at the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust – very excited for this. I think I’m assisting with removing Himalayan Balsam in areas where water voles live but I will know more when I get there! Engaging with the work of my local trust has definitely made me fall in love with the area in which I live – I definitely recommend it if you have a nearby trust, they have a ton of free events and ways to learn more about the environment around where you live.

Fourth things fourth, in the world of reading, I (made it to the end but) really, really struggled to finish Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I loved the central character but lost interest slightly in the story in the last third of the novel which I wasn’t expecting. You can’t win ’em all.

Fifth things fifth, tea. Which in my opinion should actually come first, so I’ll have to readdress that in the future.
